Same. Historic architecture junkie too
Emerald green is my favorite color.
#2I'm more of a sciFi/fantasy fan now but when I was younger I loved loved loved horror and monster movies and books. I would even sneak out of bed late at night to watch a horror movie if I knew one was showing. I listened to a creepy radio show whose name escapes me but it always started with the sound of a door creaking open, and ended with the door creaking then shutting with an echoing boom.I went to the beach one summer during that period with a friend and his family and took the book 'The Wolfen' to read on the drive.I couldn't put the book down and it pissed off my friend because he wanted to go out chasing girls and I kept saying:"One more page... One more page... just let me finish this page..."My bedroom walls hosted a motley collection of pictures that ran the gamut from Olivia Newton-John photos to various monster movie scenes cut from magazines like 'Fangoria'.
Me, too, on the historic architecture. One particular fetish is helical staircases. My two favorites of the ones i've seen are the Scala Contarini del Bovolo in Venice and the da Vinci stairs in Chambord Castle in the Loire Valley.I'm also queer for old lighthouses and still have a few on my bucket list.Nicknames...in high school, as a football lineman, I was Crunch. In the army, as a door gunner, I was Twitchy. To my dwindling supply of old hippie friends, I'm still Freaky John. For the past 20 years I've been known online by a multitude of other names. My original instrument was the euphonium, but as an adult I've only played stringed instruments such as guitar, bass, mandolin etc. At church I sing bass although I'm technically a bass-baritone with a cigarette addiction.I'm still a gearhead and have owned or cared for about sixty cars and trucks over the years. I'm retired but still drive a school bus during the school year. This will be my last year of that.I've always read, and always have a small stack I'm working on. I don't do e-books or spoken word books.I haven't used alcohol or recreational drugs in over 35 years. Although the monkey is off my back, the circus is always in town, and consequently I stay connected to the "recovery community."I was in the stained glass hobby for a while and still have the tools, but haven't done much in the last 20 years or so.My favorite sports are the cue games, bridge and chess.
